Mr. & Mrs. van der Meer

It was barely light out when we arrived at the salon, but so cozy, calm and happy inside. Winter weddings are a rare thing for me so I can’t wait to show you Emke & Becca’s gorgeous day!

The girls got ready at the family hair salon, Array in Kemptville. It was so sweet to do it there, and special that it was Becca’s mother, sister, and brother doing their hair! Perfect make up by Sarah Logan.

Becca’s gorgeous bridal jewelry, including her mother’s bracelet.

Stationery by Becca’s brother, Morgan Koens. So fitting for the crisp, white winter day and charming stone venue!

Elegance…

Oooooh these florals by the talented Bloemen Floral Design!  Loved the pops of rich colours and delicate textures for the wintery day.

This quiet flower girl, patiently hanging out with her Oma, mother of the bride, getting ready.

I had to admit to Becca I was really excited to shoot these stunning eyes again! Isn’t she lovely??

From Kemptville, we headed downtown to the Courtyard Restaurant for the ceremony and reception. This old stone setting was perfect for a cozy, intimate ceremony.

And so it begins! The groom glimpsing his bride is one of my favourite moments.

Just outside the restaurant is a stone courtyard. We were so thankful for a few places to take pictures within steps of the door! It was bitter cold, but this bridal party was game to brave it!

The wraps certainly helped. 😉 But so did warm and happy hearts!

The Courtyard did an incredible job of setting up this pretty space!

Mmmmm…it tasted as good as it looks! Delicious brunch was served.

Such a pretty cake by Liz & Laura Ansell.

For a morning wedding or personal preference, sometimes a first look doesn’t work out. But in some ways, this turned out even better! After the reception, when all the guests were gone and there was nothing left on the schedule to rush back for, we got the chance for some beautiful, romantic sunset photos at Major’s Hill Park. It was still crazy cold, but I loved doing their portraits at this time when they could really relax, enjoy each other, and celebrate!

So worth it. No matter the temperature. Parliament Hill in the background.

A little bit magical.

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. van der Meer!! So thrilled to spend this day with you!
